MINIATURE LEGENDS

These are part of a large number of small paintings I made between 1999 and 2000, they are steeped in the lore of the Middle Ages and most particularly in the cycle of the Arthurian Legends.
I worked on them while spending my first winter in Canada, and entertained the hours reading Sir Thomas Mallory's La Morte de Arthur. Beyond their specific subjects I'd say they came from my introspection, from embarking on a quest where I sought my own Holy Grail.
